What the
Bible says
About Us
(Prepared
by Aaron Kember)
We are dead in sins by
nature.
"And you hath
he made alive, who were dead in trespasses and
sins; In which in time past ye walked according to the
course of this world, according to the prince of the
power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the
children of disobedience:
Among whom also we all had our manner of life in times
past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires
of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the
children of wrath, even as others."
(Ephesians 2:1-3)
We all sin.
"As it is written,
There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none
that understandeth, there is none that seeketh God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together
become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good,
no, not one. For all have sinned, and come short of
the glory of God;"
(Romans 3:10-12,23)
"Wherefore, as by
one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin;
and so death passed upon all men, for that all have
sinned:"
(Romans 5:12)
"If we say that we
have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is
not in us."
(1 John 1:10)
We are like sheep going
astray.
"For ye were as
sheep going astray; but are now returned to the
Shepherd and Bishop of your souls."
(1 Peter 2:25)
We are all accountable
to God.
"But I say to you,
That for every idle word that men shall speak, they
shall give account for it in the day of
judgment."
(Matthew 12:36)
"Now we know that
whatever the law saith, it saith to them who are under
the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the
world may become guilty before God."
(Romans 3:19)
"So then every one
of us shall give account of himself to God."
(Romans 14:12)
We are mortal and here
only for a short time.
"For all flesh is
as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of
grass. The grass withereth, and its flower falleth
away:"
(1 Peter 1:24)
Death does not end our
existance.
"Marvel not at
this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in
the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth;
they that have done good, to the resurrection of life;
and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of
damnation."
(John 5:28,29)
"And I saw a great
white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face
the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was
found no place for them."
(Revelation 20:11)
After death come
judgement.
"And as it is
appointed to men once to die, but after this the
judgment:"
(Hebrews 9:27)
Without being born from
above, we will never see the kingdom of God.
"Jesus answered
and said to him, Verily, verily, I say to thee, Except
a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of
God."
(John 3:3)
